| Three members of the Barry Amateur Radio Society will fly
to Ascension Island (ZD8) on March 19. The group will be QRV
on 6 through 160 meters on CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31, SSTV, MFSK
and Heilshriber for 8 days. The team will then go St. Helena
(ZD7) and operate for 15 days on the same bands and as many
modes as possible. Callsigns have not been confirmed. Team members
include Rich, GW4BVJ; Doug, G0WMW; and Glyn, GW0ANA. They will
use verticals and beams along with an amplifier. QSL both operations
via GW0ANA. |

| 28.FEV.2001 - 23:00Z PW0S After the return trip, that also
bring some problems, since OLD SMUGGLER had to stay in Fernando
de Noronha Island after some troubles that stopped the trip
there, all operators had to return home by plane, what increased
the cost of the operations even more. They stayed on the rocks
for 128 hours but due to all the problems they could operate
only 48,5 hours. During this period they logged around 7.800
QSOs and 5.200 are already on the final log. We are waiting
for the QSOs that were made on the begining of the expedition
and logged with JIMｴs (PY7XC) laptop that burned the power supply.
We hope that until the next weekend all the log will be finished
and posted on this site. New pictures of the expedition are
already available |

海外からもQTC-JAPAN.COMにアクセスするのを念頭に英文も添えました。最近のDXぺディションにならってリアルタイムのやりとりができるように宿泊地のEメールアドレスを載せました。

| ご承知の方も多いとお思ますが、有効的なインターネット・クラスターの利用方法をお伝えします。一つはDXぺディション局の運用状況のみを知るため「DX−SUMMIT Spot Dtabase」（DX-SUMMITのホームページの左中ほどにある）を開き、知りたいCALLを入れて”SEARCH”をクリックするとその局の過去25回のリポートが表示されます。 |
| 二つ目は「Mega-Web 」というホームページはDX−SUMMIT とThe JAPAN DX Clustersの両方を同一画面で見られるものです。必要は要求を満たす典型例です。

| The shutdown plan is already outlined. They
will continue to operate till Thursday evening Fiji Time (about
06:00z Thursday). Than, they will start packing equipment during
the night Thusday/Friday, and plan to sail off towards Fiji
on Friday morning Fiji time (about 21:00z Thursday). 40 hours
later they plan to be in Nadi, Fiji. With considerably longer
openings on higher bands, they are likely to stay with the current
operating pattern. Low bands are unlikely. They want to give
chance to 'small guns', since the second operation to Conway
Reef, planned for April 2001 has been CANCELLED. Also visit

やっとのことSSTVのコンタクトができました。約1週間の苦闘でした。早朝、夕方、時に正午（日本時間）ごろと、何時にオンエアするのかわからないままじっと待つDXハンティングの苦労が、また逆に面白味にもなります。
苦闘するのは呼ぶ側だけではありません。50度の熱さにリニアアンプが早々にダウン、テントでの運用で日焼けに苦しんでいるようです。

are a lot of birds that are making big problems. |

huge. A bouat that was carring the food rolled over and sanked.
Air temperature is now about 50 celsius degrees away from the
sun. All team members are fine, except some of them have sun

Clusterにはリポートが載りませんでした。リポートで推測する限り運用は、1時間半ぐらいのようですね。 さて、今朝15mバンドで聞いたところ、Ａｂｏｕｔ

３D2CI ex YU1NR Ratkoさんとフォーンでただいまコンタクト（RS58）ができてSSTVの運用を明日行うとの情報をもらいました。
周波数は28.680MHz、時間はわからないとのことですが、10メーターが本日（23日）最初にリポートに載ったのは23：16ｚ（08：16JST）ですから、その前から待機したほうが良いと思います。

| コンウェイリーフ「3D2CI」が運用を始めました。JAPAN DXクラスターに「22-Feb
0003Z」とリポートされたのがスタートのようです。ただいまのところSSB、CWのみです。 「PW0S」も結局SSTVの運用はクラスターに見当たらず、私もSSBでもコンタクトしないままPY0/Fへ行き、帰りの交通機関待ちのようです。

「8Q7MZ」もクラスターに2回リポートがあった後リポートされずQRTしたようです。運用中リクエストを何回も出したのですが効果はありませんでした。
「FO/DL1AWI（マルケサス）」は依然10メーターとローバンドで運用していますが、これもクラスターを見る限り運用の気配はありません。

各DXぺディションは、SSTVに関する限り思わしくありません。 それはさて置き、最近のDXぺﾃﾞィションではいわゆる保険QSOを防ぐ意味でQSO直後にコンタクト結果を確認できる方法がとられることが多いのですが、PW0SのDXぺディションはSSTVを効果的に使っている点注目に値するのではないでしょうか。
すなわち、出発からその状況の画像をDXぺディションのホームページに随時載せていることです。当ページにも載ったランディングができない状況をずばり表す画像は迫力があります。
流石に運用が始まってからはその度合いは落ちているようです。 FO/DL5XUのホームページのニュースの中でも書いてありますが、30分5ドルの「インターネットカフェ」が少し離れたところにあり思うように活用できなかったとありますが、その点文章もある程度まではSSTVで送れますから、今後これを採用する例が増えれば、必然的にSSTVの運用も多くなるのではないかと期待します。

| After the normal problems of the first day of operation, the
activities are developing well from St Peter and St Paul Rocks.
Yesterday they have been very actives despite no amplifiers,
and only the vertical up. Today they will put up the low band
antenas and also the 6 meters yagi. They will also start the
rtty activity. Unfortunattly Murphy is already there and they
lost one of the lap tops due to sever oscilation of power line
from the generator that burned the lap top power supply. Today
also they will pick-up the big generator from the boat so that
they will be able to use the amplifiers. The operation follows
untill next Friday. |

| As it was informed by the local fishers, that more than anyone
know everything connected to the sea of St. Peter and St. Paul
Rocks, the activities verified on the last few days, were really
very unusual. Bad luck. This late afternoon PY7ZY was able to
make a difficoult landing and after that, returned to OLD SMUGGLER.
Tomorrow, Feb 12th, they will try landing at 12:00Z with 90%
of possibilities of success as per it was informed by the group.
Since the landing is succeeded, we hope that around 17/18:00Z,
the first station will be on the air. Once again, GOOD LUCK
to them all. |

due to the situation today is being still the same landing now
is expected for tomorrow FEB 11. Tonight we will try to get

| I just made a contact with PT7BZ/MM and inffortunatly
the landing was impossible today due to high sea and wind. The
big waves almost covered the rocks. They will try again tomorrow
morning. They will try to send pictures showing the situation
via SSTV tonight. If all OK the photos will be on this site

| The OLD SMUGGLER is actually 75 milles from the
rocks and at around 0200Z they will be crossing the Equator
line. The arrival on the rocks is expected to 1300Z, same day
(Feb 9th). Depending of the WX condx, at 1600Z, the first station
will be on the air, probably on 21 Mhz SSB. The expedition is
expected to be on the air untill next Wednesday or maybe Thursday
next week.The operating frequencies will be as follows: from
